I hope the instalation of Miltech TDR-10A E/O on the Kavaloudis class FPB's, will provide another Fire Control aiming sensor to the old boats and actually a non detected one! Thanks! Indeed, as all the fire (gun) control systems, such as MR-123-02, LIROD, TMX-CW, STING, etc., Pollux is equipped with a camera. As far as I know, Pollux will not not be upgraded, the new system will cover that role as well. Let's wait and see where exactly it will be installed and if indeed will equip Kavaloudis as I suspect. It is used for optical confirmation of the target detected and when enemy EW systems are jamming the Pollux radar. It sometimes has limited autonomous use against slow surface targets. Speaking for their possible replacement from a new camera with a HN technical oficer, he mentioned that there heve been efforts some years ago to replace the old daylight camera attached to the Pollux, with a new day/night one, at the same mounting of the old one, with extended use. Some technical (and economical?) matters canceled the effort. Hope now the job will be done.Manolishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04797900184530356120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093295897241438289.post-55660530264890629492019-10-06T21:25:06.514+03:002019-10-06T21:25:06.514+03:00Indeed. I expect Salamis to give her system to Kasos (the only modern patrol vessel without such a system at the moment) and thus to receive also the new system. Five new systems will go to Kavaloudis class.D-Mitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13958151042890362933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093295897241438289.post-34181205531746470772019-10-06T14:23:30.455+03:002019-10-06T14:23:30.455+03:00In the following photo by AegeanHawk, HN Gunboat ...In the following photo by AegeanHawk, HN Gunboat Navmahos is pictured with her new E/O system Miltech TDR-10Advanced : https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EFLUqypWkAAsaL8?format=jpg&name=largeManolishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04797900184530356120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093295897241438289.post-24975915573404470382018-04-26T15:15:10.979+03:002018-04-26T15:15:10.979+03:00Gongratulations for this article. The IRST installation of the Laskos FACM on a new small dedicated must at the stern, adds wheight on a small ship and cuts part of the front view. Maybe this happened because Mirador is a heavier system, but the light wheight TDR-10 should be mounted directly on Kavaloudis FACM's main must, at the highest possible point. <br />I'd like to ask, but do not expect an answer concerning the IRST integration level into the MEKO's Tactical system.Manolishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04797900184530356120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093295897241438289.post-35660712911847202282018-02-19T20:23:58.776+02:002018-02-19T20:23:58.776+02:00It is not about success from my side, just profess...It is not about success from my side, just professionalism from a company! Very very good point my friend about the coverage. I am afraid I cannot give an answer on that. Perhaps, if the next boats that will receive the system are the Kavaloudis FACM, the installation will be similar to Laskos FACM.D-Mitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13958151042890362933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093295897241438289.post-31567403846580588072018-02-19T20:10:07.341+02:002018-02-19T20:10:07.341+02:00Great Success for Naval Analyses! But, I cannot pass the fact that all these IR units seem to be mounted not on ships must as expected, or other higher point, but just up the ship's bridge. Because of their mount it seems to cover only a 180o view -mainly the front- when other similar systems, including the modernised "S",Combattante IIIA and "Roussen" classes, cover almost 360o.Manolishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04797900184530356120noreply@blogger.com
