On August 10, 2023 the United States Navy retired its 11th Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, the USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), after over 36 years of operational service. The decommissioning ceremony of the USS Mobile Bay (CG-53), a Ticonderoga-class cruiser, took place on August 10, 2023, at Naval Base San Diego, the second-largest surface ship base in the United States Navy and the principal homeport for the Pacific Fleet.
